The last couple of weeks have been busy.
Spring came. ALLELUIA!
More light, warmer weather, life growing abundantly. YES!
Polin came along for the ride. RATS!
Sneezing, itchy eyes, and weeds growing everywhere. UGH!
But that’s what comes with seasonal changes, right?
I’ve been kicking myself to write more these past few weeks.
And in a way, I have been writing more.
More sermons.
More services.
More planning documents.
For a pastor during Lent, Holy Week, and Easter…it’s a busy season.
And now we have done that…now comes the seasonal change…so what’s next?
There’s a part of me that wants to be all cool and say, “What’s next?” And with that question I go down my West Wing Rabbit Hole
Well, one of the next things is that I have time to write in a blog, rather than guiltily staring at my computer saying, “I should really write in my blog….”
But I find that often with seasonal changes, I need a little reflection.
I need to reflect the moments shared by family. Precious moments that are seasonal treasures that may not always come around the same way next year.
I need to reflect on the good work that I did. And not feel guilty by saying, “Yeah…what I did and created…is good!”
Somewhere along the line we learn that “we’re only as good as our next project” or “don’t rest on your laurels” or “Don’t be prideful.”
But I think we rob ourselves when we don’t pause in these seasonal changes and look back, spend time on reflection, and give thanks.
Give thanks for what others have done to help out in a project.
Give thanks for the time spent with the people you love.
Give thanks for what you were able to do with the resources and time you had.
Because God made me who I am. And I can use what God gives. And it can be good…and sometimes even great.
So…what’s next?
